While its milder relative, hydrated lime, rules supreme in building and soil management, Quicklime reveals another side of calcium’s potential. This powerful substance, also known as calcium oxide (CaO), arises from the hot embrace of kilns, when limestone sheds its water molecule shroud. As a result, a highly reactive, lump-like force with applications ranging from steelmaking to environmental remediation was created.
